Requirements and compatibility

What it needs, and what it works with.

SportsCaster Pro runs on one computer with a Behringer or Focusrite audio interface. The interface is required: it is where the mics come in and where the headphones are fed. Below is every model it runs on, how it connects to them, and everything it talks to once it is on the air.

Required

It needs a Behringer or Focusrite interface.

These are the interfaces SportsCaster Pro is built and tested on. The number of mic inputs decides which version you can run: two for the two-channel version, four for the four-channel version.

SportsCaster Pro requires one of these interfaces. A computer's built-in sound card is not supported.

Runs the four-channel versionFour or more mic inputs. Either of these also runs the two-channel version.

Runs the two-channel versionTwo mic inputs.

The driver

It works with the interface through ASIO®.

ASIO is the audio driver standard professional audio software uses on Windows to work with an interface directly, with the short delay live audio needs. Behringer and Focusrite each publish an ASIO driver for their interfaces, and SportsCaster Pro runs through it: the mics come in through it, and the program and the studio's IFB go back out through it to the headphones.

  1. Plug the interface into a USB port.

  2. Install the interface maker's ASIO driver.

Download it from Behringer's or Focusrite's support page for your model.

  3. Choose the interface in SportsCaster Pro.

Open Settings and pick it from the list of audio interfaces.

The studio

It calls most broadcast codecs over SIP.

AirCodec is built into SportsCaster Pro. It calls the studio over SIP, the standard most broadcast codecs take calls on, so it reaches the Comrex or Tieline gear already in your rack, and most other codecs that answer SIP calls. It can also connect straight to an AirCodec at the studio.

  • Dials the studio by name when you press Start All, and answers automatically when the studio calls in.
  • The far end picks the codec from what SportsCaster Pro offers.
  • The studio's return comes back as IFB in the announcers' headphones, never into the broadcast.

The streams

It streams the game straight to your listeners.

Start All brings every stream up and dials the studio at the same time. Each stream can also go live on its own.

  • YouTube Live and Facebook Live

Live video carrying your logo, or a rotation of sponsor logos through the game.

  • Icecast and Shoutcast

Audio streams to your Icecast or Shoutcast server.

  • The recording

The whole show recorded to a folder on the SportsCaster Pro computer, started with one press.

System requirements

The computer it needs.

SportsCaster Pro mixes, processes, streams and records all at the same time, so it needs a real computer under it. This is what we recommend.

Operating system
Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
Processor
Four cores or more: an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 from 2018 or later. A Core i7 or Ryzen 7 if you stream video to YouTube and Facebook at the same time.
Memory
16 GB or more, installed as two memory sticks rather than one.
Storage
A solid-state drive (SSD), with room for your recordings.
Screen
1920 × 1080 or larger.
Connections
A USB port for the audio interface, and an internet connection. Wired Ethernet is best when the venue has it.

On game day, keep the computer plugged in and set Windows to the High performance power plan, so power saving never interrupts the audio interface.
